Lawsuits Against Henry Schein Expose the Ticking Time Bomb in Your Mouth

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The use of Mercury in dental fillings is nothing less than a potential ticking time bomb in your mouth, according to a new lawsuit against Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC) alleging the dental supply giant and the world's largest supplier of such fillings is risking the public's health and the environment through deceptive and dishonest business practices.

Sold in the U.S. as "silver fillings," Amalgam dental fillings are mostly mercury, a known potent neurotoxin, the lawsuit says.  The environmental health effects of Amalgam include brain damage and neurological problems, especially for children and the unborn babies of pregnant women. These Amalgam fillings expand and crack over years, necessitating their replacement. And removing them exposes patients, dental technicians and the environment to potentially harmful levels of mercury. In fact, dental offices are the main source of mercury pollution in public water systems.

Ken Rosenblood, who made a deal with Henry Schein to invest in companies on the cutting edge of safe removal and disposal of mercury in Amalgam dental fillings says Henry Schein, Inc. concocted a carefully orchestrated scheme to bury these companies in order to protect its profitable Amalgam business.  Schein then ousted Rosenblood and took away his rights to purchase additional equity, the lawsuit says.

Today, as a result of Henry Schein's actions, including trying to keep the dangers of mercury away from the public, patients with damaged Amalgam fillings are being deceived about their exposure to poisonous mercury and the environment is being damaged, the lawsuit alleges.
