LeadingAge PA Seeks Partnership with Gov. Wolf on Senior Care
Association urges new governor to address concerns facing state's seniors
MECHANICSBURG, Pa., Nov. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LeadingAge PA, which represents more than 360 not-for-profit providers of senior housing, health care and community services, congratulates Tom Wolf on his election as the next governor of Pennsylvania and looks forward to working with him on the critical issues facing the state's rapidly growing senior population.
"On behalf of all our providers of housing and services for Pennsylvania's older adults, LeadingAge PA salutes Mr. Wolf on his victory," LeadingAge PA CEO Ron Barth said. "During the campaign, Governor-Elect Wolf repeatedly mentioned that Pennsylvania has an obligation to its older adults to make sure they have quality housing and health care. We certainly feel the same way.
"Pennsylvania is one of the 'grayest' states in the nation, and its over-85 population is growing at 10 times the rate of the rest of the population. LeadingAge PA looks forward to working with the new governor and his team to find and implement solutions for how to provide the best possible services for our parents, grandparents, and great –grandparents."
LeadingAge PA believes Pennsylvania's elected officials must act now to rebalance funding for senior services. Services for older adults are not a "one size fits all" proposition. In 2015, lawmakers need to explore changes and innovations that ensure older adults of all incomes receive the right services, in the right settings, at the right time — without barriers to their care.
