"LeapFrog has been a leader in educational entertainment for 18 years and helping children learn to read has been a driving force since the beginning," said John Barbour, chief executive officer at LeapFrog. "LeapReader is a revolutionary new learning solution that engages children in the development of literacy skills by reading and writing together with physical books in a fun and engaging way. After a very successful pre-sale and selling out on our site, we are excited to make LeapReader available in time for back-to-school shopping, when parents are looking for high-quality solutions to supplement what their children are learning in the classroom."
One Solution, Three Unique Learning Experiences
The LeapReader library includes 150+ books, audio books, flash cards, maps, learn-to-write sets, music albums and trivia challenges and lets parents easily personalize their child's learning journey by choosing titles based on their reading level, favorite characters or learning style.
Learn to Read
From learning phonics skills to building reading comprehension, the LeapReader library includes a wide range of interactive books, flash cards and more that make learning to read exciting. Titles include LeapFrog's first-ever 3D book, Disney-Pixar's Monsters University, which takes children into Mike and Sulley's monster world to help them build comprehension and vocabulary skills; LeapFrog's Leap and the Lost Dinosaur book lets kids practice reading skills while they explore science and archaeology; and LeapFrog's Talking Words Factory Flash Cards set encourages children to mix and match letters to build more than one hundred words that come to life with fun audio.
Learn to Write
Developing writing skills is a core part of building literacy and research shows that children learn to read and write better when both are developed together. New interactive writing workbooks in the LeapReader library such as Learn to Write Letters with Mr. Pencil integrate reading and writing in a fun, seamless experience. As children build phonics skills, they can also learn to write letters and numbers using the correct sequence of strokes, while they receive interactive guidance and positive reinforcement. These new workbooks feature revolutionary LeapFrog Learning Paper which contains ink embedded within the page for a mess-free writing solution.
Learn through Listening
LeapReader audio books help children build listening and vocabulary skills which are essential to reading comprehension. The LeapReader library will include more than 100 audio titles including audio books, music and trivia challenges, appropriate for children ages four to eight years by the end of 2013. The offering will include popular audio books such as Clifford the Big Red Dog from Scholastic and the Magic Treehouse series from Listening Library, a division of Random House, Inc. to music albums such as LeapFrog Learning Rhythms and KIDZ BOP 24.
LeapReader holds audio for up to 40 books or 175 songs at a time, and is backwards compatible with most of the Tag library*.
