AIMe Solution Increases Efficiency and Accuracy in Patient Identity
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Lenovo Health, a progressive leader in health IT, announces its partnership with LifeMed ID, Inc. to bring a solution to the industry that addresses duplicate records, medical identity theft, and payment fraud. Together, Lenovo Health and LifeMed ID have built a services offering, which includes the Authoritative Identity Management Exchange™ (AIMe) solution, to allow a patient to have a single identity across the continuum of care, driving greater quality of the care that one receives.
The healthcare industry is challenged by duplicate records, medical identity theft, and payment fraud—all of which impact a patient's experience and the quality of data throughout each point of care. These problems affect healthcare organizations and their ability to manage risk and result in revenue loss across the healthcare system. Lenovo Health, along with LifeMed ID, identified these reasons as needs for a universal patient identity service.

The AIMe solution is built on three processes: establishing a trusted patient ID token, linking their ID token to their correct medical records, and automatically invoking the correct patient record. Additionally, AIMe is designed to decrease processing time, data entry errors, and administration costs, while eliminating duplicate patient records. The system provides the ability to identify patients based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Assurance Level 3 criteria as patients transition between care settings, allowing facilities to confidently welcome patients and successfully manage their identity. This NIST criteria provides a consistent level of authentication so services can provide their users with protection and privacy over time as technologies change.
