NEW YORK, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lenox Hill Hospital was ranked among the nation's top 50 hospitals in Cardiology and Heart Surgery and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) in US News & World Report's 24th annual Best Hospitals' edition. Lenox Hill was ranked 25th in the nation for Cardiology and Heart Surgery and 41st in ENT.
This year's Best Hospitals' report highlights more than 720 of the nation's roughly 5,000 hospitals, with only 140 hospitals ranked nationally in at least one of 16 adult medical specialties. Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance as among their region's best. Just 3 percent of all hospitals earn a national ranking in any specialty.
In addition to its national rankings, Lenox Hill Hospital was ranked #9 in the state of New York and #10 in the New York Metro area, and received a total of 10 "high performing" designations for its clinical performance in Cancer, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Urology.
"This accomplishment is the result of the outstanding performance of our physicians, nurses and staff and their exceptional commitment to high-quality patient care," said Dennis Connors, the hospital's executive director. "Our greatest achievements come when we make a difference in the lives and health of our patients."
