Letsee Beer uses augmented reality to provide instant access to reviews for hundreds of beers on Android or Apple smartphones. Launch the app, point the camera at a bottle or can of beer, and Letsee Beer instantly serves up user reviews and ratings, no tip required.

"With the recent explosion in beer choice, finding the perfect one has become too difficult," said Sangchul Ahn, Letsee's founder and CEO. "You could spend hours in a walk-in beer fridge, typing names of exotic craft brews and seasonal beers into search engines, your fingers becoming more and more frostbitten. Or you could quickly browse through reviews for hundreds of beers, by just pointing your smartphone's camera at the labels."

Recent statistics bring clarity to the challenge of finding the right beer. More than 3,700 craft brewers in the United States sold 12.2 million barrels of beer in the first half of 2015, according to a report from the Brewers' Association, cited by CNBC. That equates to about 4 billion 12oz bottles and represents an increase of 15 percent over the same period in 2014.

In 2016, Letsee plans to expand into additional product segments through new apps. These will later be consolidated into a single Letsee App that gives customers instant and useful information on a wide range of products.

Based on his Ph.D. research, Sangchul Ahn founded Letsee in 2014, to help consumers make more informed purchasing choices, by providing on-demand augmented reality information. He and his team have registered six patents, developed over the past five years. While their first commercial foray focuses on the drinks market, their technology is uniquely scalable on a massive level.
