Liberty Institute Condemns Bullying Of "Duck Dynasty" Patriarch

Attorneys Support Phil Robertson's Right to Express his Religious Convictions

PLANO, Texas, Dec. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Liberty Institute, the largest legal organization dedicated solely to defending religious liberty in America, issued this statement regarding A&E's suspension of Phil Robertson:

"Whether or not A&E violated the legal rights of 'Duck Dynasty's' Phil Robertson, they most surely violated a fundamental principle of American society: that people have the right to express their religious viewpoints without being punished.

Liberty Institute strongly condemns A&E's intolerant and inflexible bullying of Phil Robertson and its insensitivity to its viewers, most of whom agree with Mr. Robertson's religious viewpoint.

We stand ready to defend the rights of people of faith in the workplace—such as our client Craig James in his legal action against Fox Sports—when such religious discrimination violates the law, as it often does.

In the spirit of American tolerance of religious diversity, A&E should reinstate Mr. Robertson and apologize for its religious bigotry."

Liberty Institute is a national law firm dedicated to defending and restoring religious liberty across America — in our schools, for our churches, in our military and throughout the public arena. Liberty's vision is to reestablish religious liberty in accordance with the principles of our Founding Fathers. For information, visit www.LibertyInstitute.org.
