OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Adrianne Haslet, a professional ballroom dancer at the peak of her career, was enjoying the 2013 Boston Marathon when the unimaginable happened. Adrianne survived the marathon bombing that April day, but was critically injured and lost her left leg below the knee as a result.
Three years later, she ran the 2016 Boston Marathon on Monday, April 18. In the wake of the marathon bombing, she fought hard to return to her life and activities and has become a voice and advocate for other amputees who need help to receive quality prosthetic care. Haslet joined the Limbs for Life Board of Directors in May, continuing her commitment and support for amputees across the country.
On September 20, Haslet will be the featured speaker at "Tuesdays with Adrianne" at Plenty Mercantile in downtown OKC. The event is open to the public and tickets are available in advance at https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/tuesdayswithadrianne or 405-286-5027. The event begins at 5:30pm.
Adrianne appeared in "The Survivor Diaries" on AC360 with Anderson Cooper which chronicled much of her early recovery. She was featured in TED Talks and numerous other news stories. Rising to meet her daily challenges head on with a unique perspective, she has had to re-learn her craft and an entirely new meaning to the word patience.
"You realize what kind of life you lived, and that flashes before you, and then you realize what kind of life that you want to live after." In the three years since the marathon bombing, Adrianne has become an inspiration through her positive attitude and infectious smile. "I refuse to be called a victim. I am not defined by what happened in my life. I am a survivor, defined by how I live my life." To learn more, visit Limbsforlife.org or adriannehaslet-davis.com
