Cleveland and Northeast Ohio have recently been cited in a number of studies related to significant job growth, particularly in technology and healthcare, two areas in which Lincoln will specialize, graduating students to fill the ever-increasing opportunities in the region.
According to a study on Dice.com, a career website for technology and engineering professionals and companies in the U.S., Ohio boasts three of the top four cities that are the fastest growing metropolitan areas for technology jobs in the nation, with Cleveland in third place, showing 62 percent growth from 2010 to 2011.
The Northeast Ohio Information Technology Think Tank was commissioned in May to survey its membership on the general topic of "Building Your IT Career Plan." Sixty-two percent of respondents said they "needed security and networking" as part of their career objectives, while 66% said they receive or will receive their training from "private training companies or schools" versus four-year or community colleges.
"That is truly significant. IT professionals or those interested in the IT field, will be highly receptive to the Computer Networking, and Security (CNS) program at Lincoln," said Chuck Mackey, Founder of the research-oriented Northeast Ohio IT Think Tank. "These facts, combined with recent reports by Dice.com, show Northeast Ohio as one of the hottest locations for IT jobs. We also know from our membership that tech firms throughout our region are all clamoring for IT talent in the areas Lincoln will be training. We believe the Lincoln College of Technology approach, centrally located facility and industry-current learning environment will help fill the need for IT talent. The NEO IT Tank fully expects to work with Lincoln on helping students match up to the job opportunities we see every day."
Lincoln College of Technology students experience hands-on learning from experienced professionals, dedicated instructors and staff and job placement assistance that includes resume writing and interviews.
"As someone who has worked in education in the Cleveland market for the past 10 years, I am excited to bring the Lincoln educational philosophy and model to residents of Northeast Ohio," said Anthony Hibbs, Executive Director of Lincoln's Cleveland campus. "Lincoln is currently celebrating its 65th year and opening Cleveland as our 45th Campus. Our students benefit from flexible schedules, convenient class sizes, a focus on hands on training and career placement assistance upon graduation."
