Liposuction Demand Falls as Non-Invasive Treatments Such as Zeltiq® Climb
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- A survey conducted by The Patient's Guide found that almost three-quarters (74%) of respondents would prefer a non-surgical procedure such as Zeltiq® over liposuction even if it meant more treatments were needed. "It appears the market for non-invasive fat reduction is very large. Patients in our surveys were highly responsive to a non-surgical option for reducing fat," says Grant L. Aldrich, COO of The Patient's Guide. The survey had 1,245 respondents.
Today one of the most anticipated new technologies for fat reduction was officially approved by the FDA, Zeltiq Aesthetics' "Coolsculpting" device. With a majority of consumers looking for a less expensive, less invasive way to remove those few excess vanity pounds, Zeltiq seems well positioned to target this growing trend.
"This year we've seen significant advances in body contouring including treatment of fat and cellulite," said Dr. Eric Bernstein, Director of Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology Centers, Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania. "The approval of Zeltiq by the FDA signals a major step forward for patients seeking a safe and non-surgical fat reduction option."
Also revealed in the survey was that consumers are most interested in results when considering a body contouring procedure (48%) than cost (21%), safety (11%), length of recovery (10%), and surgery (10%).
The Patient's Guide survey was conducted on three websites operated by The Patient's Guide – FatReduction.org, FatRemoval.org, and Body-Contouring.com. To learn more about Coolsculpting go to http://www.body-contouring.com/zeltiq.aspx.
