DENVER, July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Little Man Ice Cream has opened its first pop-up shop on the 16th Street Mall. The satellite branch, dubbed "Little Man on Wheels," operates out of a custom bike cart on 16th and Champa streets. In addition to serving ice cream sandwiches, Little Man on Wheels will scoop six rotating flavors of ice cream, including such fan favorites as Salted Oreo, 16th Street Chocolate (a blend of chocolate ice cream, brownies and fudge) Mexican Chocolate and Space Junkie, (a whimsical mix of raspberry ice cream, brownies and marshmallow swirl).

"We're thrilled to be opening our first downtown outpost on one of the highest profile and heavily-trafficked areas of the city," said Little Man Owner Paul Tamburello. "This new location provides us with the opportunity to serve our downtown fans, while also introducing new audiences to our handcrafted, locally-sourced ice cream."
Little Man was one of several food vendors recruited by the Downtown Denver Partnership as part of a larger effort to showcase more of Denver's local and unique flavors on the mall, a top tourist attraction. The shop, which operates its main location out a 28-foot steel replica of an old-fashioned milk can, prides itself on providing patrons with a vintage, community-oriented experience. Pancake breakfasts, local musical performances and a farmer's market, are among the unique gatherings Little Man hosts.
"Our goal is to continue to serve as a gathering spot for our patrons. No matter where we're located, we will create the Little Man experience," said Little Man Manager Loren Martinez.
Outside of its LoHi and downtown locations, Little Man ice cream can also be found at several local restaurants, including Il Vicino and Margs Taco Bistro. The ice cream emporium also launched an express bike last summer to provide ice cream at special events, such as festivals and concerts, as well as private gatherings, including birthday parties and weddings.
Little Man's ice cream, gelato and sorbet are hand-made with some of the finest, locally sourced ingredients possible. The product is produced one small batch at a time to ensure prestige quality.
Inspired by vintage Coney Island hot dog-shaped stands, Little Man's landmark milk can opened its doors in 2008 at 2620 16th St. The shop's goal is to serve as a leader in the community, both locally and globally. For every scoop of ice cream Little Man sells, one scoop of rice or beans is donated to a community in need somewhere in the world. Through the "Scoop for Scoop" program, Little Man has provided donations for villages in Peru, Cambodia, Ethiopia and Myanmar. Since its opening, the shop has donated more than 800,000 scoops of food.
Little Man on Wheels will operate from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday through the end of October.
