SINGAPORE, Dec. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- LiveJournal, the world's first blogging and social media platform has come out as one of the strongest e-commerce players in South-East Asia, according to a December survey. Near half of the 1.2 million monthly users in Singapore visit LiveJournal to shop from over 50,000 "blogshops", selling everything from clothes and fashion accessories to muffins; mostly from home.

Each month, a blogshop has on average eight USD $15 transactions. This translates to a staggering USD $6m worth of monthly blogshop revenue.

Blogshopping is a very Singaporean phenomenon, having grown organically as a preferred way for Singapore entrepreneurs to enter into business. Only 10% of the blogshops earn more than USD $1,500 per month with the highest monthly revenue reported at USD $15,000.
