Lividini & Co. And The Accessories Council Launch Emerging Designers Competition
NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --Lividini & Co. and the Accessories Council have joined together to launch the Emerging Designers Competition, an initiative to find and mentor a high-potential up-and-coming accessories designer. The winner will participate in a one-year program, directed by L&Co. in partnership with The Accessories Council, which will provide mentoring and networking opportunities. The program will launch on September 15th, with the winner revealed at the Accessories Council's ACE Awards Dinner on November 3rd.
The Emerging Designers Competition is open to accessories designers who have been in business for less than three years that are looking to strengthen their brand identity, marketing outreach, and/or distribution. To enter, applicants must submit a portfolio, which may include lookbooks, product information, wholesale distribution, and a business plan. In addition, applicants must be available for interviews in New York in the month of October. A panel of judges, made up of L&Co. executives and the Accessories Council Board, will select up to five finalists prior to the announcement of the winner at the ACE Awards.
"We are delighted to partner with the Accessories Council to create the Emerging Designers Competition," said Jaqui Lividini, CEO of Lividini & Co. "Emerging designers are the lifeblood of our industry and we are very excited about the opportunity to help develop new talent. New designers face so many challenges, not the least of which is how to identify and communicate their unique brand proposition. We will not only help them to discover their brand essence, but also fine tune their collection in order to present it to retailers."
"Today's business climate makes it so challenging for young designers to get their businesses off the ground, and the mission of the Accessories Council is centered around supporting designers, so we are thrilled to announce this program and our partnership with Lividini & Co.," said Karen Giberson, President of The Accessories Council. "The Emerging Designers Competition will provide exclusive access to invaluable industry resources, while showcasing new faces within the industry."
Recipients will be rewarded with visibility for their brand, industry recognition, granted access to information, guidance, mentorship and resources from both L&Co. and members of the Accessories Council. Each recipient will also be given two designer showcases, a year's membership to the Accessories Council, and inclusion in all Accessories Council press events for one year, free of charge.
