Loc Performance Products, Inc. Receives 3rd Party Certification for Design Engineering Services
PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan-based Loc Performance Products, Inc. has been independently certified for design engineering services by NSF International Strategic Registrations (NSF-ISR) in accordance with both AS9100:2009, Rev C. and ISO 9001:2008 industry standards. Loc achieved certification in 2008, most recently adding design engineering for both defense and heavy industry customers.
Since 1971, Loc designed many products as a means towards securing production business, including a lightweight locking differential for NASCAR and an advanced brake system that allows the Army's M88A2 Recovery Vehicle to stop when towing an M1 Main Battle Tank. Through consistent application of design for manufacturability and performance, Loc has enhanced its brand image as a high quality provider of complex mechanical assemblies including gearing, braking, and suspension.
Loc established its design engineering services business to leverage manufacturing expertise and relationships with engineering customers. The company has successfully completed projects such as designing new geared wheel hub units for tactical vehicles, modification and creation of final drive assemblies for tracked vehicles, field improvements for industrial generators, and Army development projects to improve drivetrain power density and efficiency.
To manage growth, the Loc Product Development Process (LPDP), is a proprietary, gateway-based development process requiring peer reviews, quality control checks, and signoff at team, management, and director levels prior to completion of each development phase, ultimately controlling, archiving, and syncing the product development life cycle baseline as changes occur throughout the process.
Chad Darr, Director of Product Development, "The LPDP process has been fundamental to enable growth management, data control, quality assurance of our design products, and the addition of design engineering to our scope of registration with no nonconformities during our 3rd party registration audit. This process was developed by leveraging the best of industry between Department of Defense system engineering practices and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) practices commonly used in automotive."
Lou Burr, President of Loc Performance Products commented, "We are pleased to offer new opportunities to work with Loc in producing superior engineering designs across various industries. The entire team takes pride in providing the highest quality, cost effective solutions for production, and we look forward to maintaining those high standards for our design services."
