Local Nonprofits Help Underprivileged Go Solar
Habitat For Humanity And Light For All Partner To Provide Free Solar
MODESTO, Calif., June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With the help of a local non-profit, some Modesto families are seeing a drastic reduction in their electricity bills. Light For All Foundation (LFAF), a Manteca based non-profit in partnership with Habitat For Humanity, Stanislaus County kicked off a new program providing solar electric systems to low income families. Patricia Arzabal, one of the first recipients of the Program, stated, "I am so thankful to receive this solar system. Now, I can save money to spend on other important things, like food and clothing for my family."
"These projects would not have been possible without the generous donations from our valued partners from the solar industry. Their commitment to the environment, the industry, and the community speaks for itself and we are extremely grateful to them," said Jessica Filbrun, Executive Director of Light For All. LFAF's partners include some of the best in the industry, including Soligent, the largest solar distributor in the Americas, and AEE Solar, one of the nation's largest wholesale distributors of solar products.
Kurios Energy, a Manteca based full service solar provider and one of the most trusted solar companies in the Central Valley, contributed by donating 100% of the installation cost with the help of their exceptional crews. "These vendor selflessly provided the products and services that made these projects possible, and we look forward to their continued support in the future," Filbrun said.
LFAF Founder Todd Filbrun, a veteran of the solar industry, stated, "Our vision for this program is to reduce or eliminate electrical expenses for needy families, and that frees up much needed capital for basic needs like food, clothing, housing expenses, education, and necessary medical expenses."
A formal Ribbon Cutting is scheduled for June 24, 2015 at 10 a.m. Attendees will include representatives from Light For All, Soligent, AEE Solar, Kurios Energy, and local and state elected officials such as Republican Leader Kristen Olsen.
