Local Talent May "Tap Into Hollywood" Via Norman, OK, Workshop over Oscar Weekend
On February 25, industry insiders will unlock the doors of Hollywood for aspiring writers, directors, actors, composers, editors, and producers.
NORMAN, Okla., Feb. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A one-day workshop, "Tap Into Hollywood," premieres in Norman, OK, on Oscar weekend, February 25. It's a how-to event facilitated by Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward, the powerhouse duo of Universal Studio's "Ride Along" franchise. Together the pair have generated over half a billion dollars in box-office sales, and will share their secrets on the 25th.
"When I went to Hollywood I had an incredibility tough time and feel I was extremely lucky," says Coolidge, a native of Oklahoma. "Kirk and I want to make it easier for others to break in."
Hollywood is one of the toughest businesses in the world to navigate. Why? "Because it's a flawed model," says Coolidge, "it's built on smoke and mirrors. You can take years to become an overnight success, or years just to become a working artist. We know the pitfalls and shortcuts. And we'll share them in the workshop."
Today, with 40 years of combined success in Hollywood, Writer/Director/Producers Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward have discovered the connective tissue to everything in Hollywood is the story. Ward states, "It's the one thing that connects all the players. Whether you're a writer, actor, director, editor or composer everything is connected through story, both yours and the ones told on screen."
Currently on the front lines of Hollywood with active projects set up at every major studio, Coolidge and Ward are taking time from their busy schedules to provide a behind the scenes look at how Hollywood really operates -- from streaming content to big budget releases. They will bring truth, inspiration and insider information to help workshop attendees accomplish their goals and tap into opportunities.
Following the Norman, OK, premiere, the workshop, "Tap Into Hollywood," will be held in a different location each month from coast to coast.
This workshop is co-sponsored by The Actor Factory and Final Draft. The fee is $425 and includes an industry mixer on Friday evening, the 24th. All participants will get a free copy of Final Draft screenwriting software, that carries a $250.00 value, and participants that already have the software will receive a free upgrade to Final Draft 10.
