Locally-Owned Princeton Sports Named an America's Best Bike Shop for 2015

BALTIMORE, Md., Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Princeton Sports, a locally-owned family business serving the Baltimore-Washington DC market for nearly 80 years, has been named one of America's Best Bike Shops for 2015 by the National Bicycle Dealers Association.  The nationwide search for Best Bike Shops honored Princeton Sports for garnering one of the highest scores in the ranking, which used mystery shoppers to evaluate the business by visiting the store, reviewing their website, and contacting the shop by phone to assess the performance from a consumer's perspective. The top-rated retailers, less than 10% of the country's 4,000 bike shops, were given the honor.

While today Princeton provides service and products for skiing, snowboarding, tennis, triathlons, running and more, the title is a nod to the company's roots as a bike shop in the Baltimore-Washington DC market. The first Princeton Sports, opened in 1936, rented and repaired bikes for residents in Baltimore City. Princeton has since grown into two locations where it offers expert advice, products and service for bicycling beginners, enthusiasts, triathlons, trail riders, youth and family and more. Princeton Sports remains a family-owned business, with the third generation of owners now running the two locations in the Baltimore-Washington DC markets.

This was the second year in a row that Princeton Sports was recognized with the title for the quality, customer service and knowledge it brings as a bike shop to the Baltimore-Washington DC region.  Princeton Sports was recognized not only for providing a knowledgeable shopping experience, but also for its community support. The company sponsors over a dozen biking and multisport events each year, and provides free bike clinics regularly. Princeton offers weekly Sunday Group Rides from both its Columbia and Baltimore locations.
