WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the nation prepares to go over the fiscal cliff, local leaders from The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), The National League of Cities (NLC) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) will gather at the National Press Club (NPC) on Wednesday, February 27 to explain the impact of across-the-board sequestration cuts on local communities and decry a move by the Obama Administration to hamstring financing for local infrastructure projects.

Mayors and local leaders of all three non-partisan organizations believe that the Administration's proposal is misguided and would increase the costs of borrowing for local governments, prevent many infrastructure projects such as schools, hospitals, roads and bridges and water systems from moving forward, and hurt taxpayers in every community in this country.
This briefing will be held at the NPC for reporters and Capitol Hill staffers so that mayors and local leaders can explain how municipal bonds are used broadly to maintain existing infrastructure, expand economic development and create jobs in local communities all across the country.
