Orange County successfully competed against Kentucky and West Virginia for the Lohmann plant expansion with an $85,000 boost from Virginia's Commonwealth Opportunity Fund. "We're excited to celebrate the success of Lohmann Specialty Coatings' decision to continue their investment with the expansion of their operations in Orange County, Virginia," says Lee Frame, Chairman, Orange County Board of Supervisors. "This is a profound testament that the region's business climate and leadership in Orange County have become true catalysts in providing valuable job opportunities for our local citizens."
"Automotive manufacturing and assembly operations are growing exponentially in the Americas, and our adhesive tape solutions are used in virtually every interior, exterior, electronic, mechanical and decorative component," says DeJong. "Just as automobile manufacturers want ready access to their suppliers, suppliers are demanding the same convenient access to our adhesive tapes that their European counterparts enjoy."
Lohmann anticipates the project will create an additional 56 jobs.
Lohmann Corporation and Subsidiaries, a wholly-owned division of the 165 year-old Lohmann GmbH & Co. KG, was founded in 1990 to support the Lohmann global expansion into the Americas. Beginning in Kentucky with the converting of products imported from the parent company in Germany, to the construction of a state-of-the-art coating plant in Virginia, and the more recent acquisition of a die-cutting company in California, Lohmann Corporation offers its customers a vertical solution for all their adhesive bonding needs. Lohmann's products are used in electronic devices, construction, alternative energy, medical, and automotive sectors.
