Express's 2022 Team is coached by Michael Chanenchuk, Sr., Jonathan Lynott, Sr., Jim Byrnes, and William Snyder. The team has earned a record of 111 wins and 9 losses, consistently playing the best teams in elite tournaments. The team has been led by captains Charles Balsamo and Joey Terenzi. In 2016, Long Island Express earned the distinction of the # 1 team in the country, winning 7 championships. In 2017, the competition in the top 5 teams from New York and Maryland intensified and Express' dominance was challenged. However, the team has maintained its elite status, winning 6 championship tournaments.
Entering the World Series Youth Lacrosse National Championship Tournament as the 5th seed, Express had one objective, which was to be victorious in the WSYL final. Surprisingly, Express suffered a tournament-opening loss, 6-7, to 3rd overall seed API/Diamondbacks. The team remained focused and went on a 7-game run, beating Fredericksburg Patriots 25-1, Mad Dog West 14-2, Team Iroquois 17-2, Eclipse 10-2, avenging the 4th seed Team 91 in the Quarter-Finals 11-2 and again, the 3rd overall seed API Diamondbacks in the Semi-Finals 11-3. Ultimately, Express beat PrimeTime in the World Series Championship Final 12-4.
The goaltenders, William Snyder and Aidan Green had an absolutely outstanding performance in both the WSYL Qualifier and the WSYL National Championship Tournament. Defenders Max McCarthy, Colin Langton, Griffin Cole, Ryan Monfort, and Matthew Freeman led the defensive front. Jack Cascadden developed into the WSYL's most dominant face-off player and he owned X in the championship game, winning 87.5% of the game's 17 face-offs, which afforded Express the majority of possessions. Midfielders Joey Terenzi, Charles Balsamo, Ryan O'Rourke, and Christian Alacqua were often too much for opposing teams to handle and attacking players Alec Gregorek, Matthew Byrnes, Matthew Caputo, and Peter Moynihan were exceptional in scoring goals.
With distinction, Charles Balsamo, Jack Cascadden, Alec Gregorek and Joey Terenzi were selected 1st Team All-World and Max McCarthy was selected 2nd Team All-World. Also worthy of recognition, Charles Balsamo was ranked # 1 with 30 overall points (13 goals and 17 assists), Alec Gregorek was ranked # 2 with 28 overall points (25 goals and 3 assists) and Joey Terenzi was ranked # 4 with 26 overall points (15 goals and 11 assists); and goalies William Snyder was ranked # 2 and Aidan Green was ranked # 5 in their respective position, in the overall World Series Youth Lacrosse Championship.
