"40 years of incredibly original, deep, wide and virtuosic music. There's nobody that sounds like them... and they have influence far and wide on me and everyone else." - Bonnie Raitt
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Lobos, Los Angeles' masterful musicians who catapulted from the East L.A. bar scene to worldwide recognition for their unique sound mixing Latin soul grooves, roots rock, Mexican folk, traditional Spanish, blues and R&B, are celebrating their 40th anniversary as a band with the release today of their 429 Records' debut "DISCONNECTED IN NEW YORK CITY." Says Boz Scaggs: "I'm inspired by Los Lobos. They are part of the fabric of a generation."
Formed in 1973 straight out of high school in East L.A., Los Lobos took their love of rock and roll and created their unique hybrid incorporating traditional Mexican music. From their beginnings performing in local dive bars and making their mark in the L.A. rock underground of the '80s to being catapulted to fame with their recording of "La Bamba" and garnering raves for the uncompromising artistry of recordings such as "Kiko", the three time Grammy winning band have forged a stellar career unlike any other in the rock, blues or traditional genres by constantly pushing their creative boundaries. The energized performances on "DISCONNECTED IN NEW YORK CITY" represent every era of their storied career from "I Got To Let You Know" from HOW WILL THE WOLF SURVIVE? to their breakout #1 hit "La Bamba" to rarer tracks from their 90's releases and their last studio album TIN CAN TRUST. Playing with a stripped down ensemble, the recording, although not fully acoustic, shines with a close knit intimacy.
