Major auction of North Alabama recreational, residential and timberland set for Nov. 12
SCOTTSBORO, Ala., Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 600 acres of Sand Mountain land -- including recreational land, timberland, and Lake Guntersville waterfront -- will be sold in a November 12 auction, with American Auctioneers conducting the event in cooperation with Debbie Mathis Realty and Auction.
"This will be one of the larger auctions in quite a while in Jackson County, including a home site on Lake Guntersville, in the gated Promenade and Oaks subdivision, on the main river channel," said Keith Baldwin, president of the Centre-based auction company.
"The owners of this property felt that with the renewed economic vitality of the area, the time was right to offer them at auction. Google's decision to locate a major data center in Jackson County will create more demand for homes and home sites, and we will be selling several sites that will be of interest to builders or individuals as a result," said Baldwin. Most properties will sell absolute, with no minimum or reserve.
Properties will include 360 acres of hunting/recreational land off Jackson County Road 81 in the Fabius community, and 200 acres off Jackson County Road 97 in Long Island. "Some of the tracts have nice stands of hardwood, with timber appraisals on file. We really think these recreational tracts will attract hunters and hunting clubs because of Jackson County's reputation as one of Alabama's best counties for deer -- including 738 harvested during the 2013-2014 season. It has consistently produced a lot of trophy bucks," said Baldwin.
The auction will begin at noon Thursday, November 12, at Carlile's Restaurant, 23730 John T. Reid Parkway, Scottsboro. The auction will be streamed, with live Internet bidding available.
