CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Oct. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Approximately 2,013 acres of Clay County land – including approximately 1,261 acres of tillable cropland – will sell at auction Wednesday, Nov. 20, with Murray Wise Associates LLC managing the sale.
The land will sell in 14 tracts ranging from a single acre to 465 acres. The property includes 445.7 acres that are enrolled in the USDA's Conservation Reserve Program (CRP).
"This is land that has been well managed by G.M. Lawrence and Company but does not meet the company's current portfolio needs," said Joe Bubon, executive vice president of the auction company. "For quite a while now, we've had a relatively short supply of larger tracts of farmland, so we should see some good interest in this auction among investors and local operators alike."
Tim Woods, of G.M. Lawrence, said the Missouri-based company hopes to get broad participation in the auction. "We wanted to sell it in tracts so that more bidders can get involved, acquiring just the property that suits them. One might be focused on tillable land, whereas another might benefit from the CRP land," said Woods.
Most of the land is located off Route 50 and Mayflower Road.
Bidding on the land will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Eagles Club in Flora. Murray Wise Associates personnel will be available on site to accommodate inspections from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 29.
