TACOMA, Wash., Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Gordon Thomas Honeywell Governmental Affairs (GTH-GA) announced today that retired Maj. Gen. Tim Lowenberg will join the firm effective August 22, 2012.   He will provide government consulting services to selected clients across GTH-GA's four primary business groups:  Federal, Multi-State, Washington state and International.

General Lowenberg comes to GTH-GA after retiring last month as Washington state's Adjutant General, a governor's cabinet post he has held since 1999.  Among many other duties, he commanded all Washington Army and Air National Guard Forces, served as the governor's Homeland Security Advisor and administered the state's emergency management and enhanced 911 telecommunications programs.

General Lowenberg's long tenure and dedicated service in the state's top military and homeland security posts earned him national recognition among the nation's other adjutant generals and homeland security advisors.   He was elected the Chair of Homeland Defense and Homeland Security of the Adjutants General Association of the U.S. and Chair of the Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council (National Governors Association – Center for Best Practices).  He was also a principal advisor to the Council of Governors facilitating the Council's work with the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security and senior White House officials.  These positions gave Lowenberg unique insights into defense and homeland security operations throughout the federal government and in governor-led initiatives in each of the states and territories.

He also helped lead many high-profile national and international programs, including serving as Chair of the National Guard Bureau Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) and Security Cooperation Activities General Officer Advisory Councils.  In these roles, he enhanced national security and CBRN capacity-building in more than 65 countries throughout the world.

General Lowenberg will be a Vice President at GTH-GA and will initially focus on representing clients in Washington D.C., various state capitols and in Washington state. "We are honored to have someone of Lowenberg's stature and public service background as a member of our firm," said Tim Schellberg , President of Gordon Thomas Honeywell Governmental Affairs."  "His experience in defense and homeland security across all states and the federal government provides him with unique insights that will allow him to develop productive solutions and partnerships between our clients and government," said Schellberg.
