NEW YORK, Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Make It Happen, a purpose-driven marketing and event company, announces today the official launch of Empower Our Vets (EOV), a campaign to promote positive stories of American veterans of all generations. EOV focuses on veterans telling their stories of life successes and helpful tools they have found to overcome daily challenges of service transition. Beginning today, EOV will release a short video each month of veterans from across the country and will be accepting stories via EOV's website (www.empowerourvets.com.)
"The goal of Empower Our Vets is to remind veterans that they are not alone, and to offer civilians a view of veterans that often goes unreported," stated Make It Happen Founder, Nicole Riggs. "We at Empower Our Vets are very excited to give veterans the opportunity to control the narrative, and tell their stories of who they are as individuals and as a community."
The first video is of SGT James E. Barnett, U.S. Army (Ret.), 30, of Atlanta, GA, who served a 15-month tour in Iraq as a Fire Support Specialist in the "Triangle of Death." James, who grew up in the Chattanooga, TN area, tells the story of his search for a new beginning after leaving the military, saying "If you find something to live for when you have nothing to live for, more things to live for will come."
Coinciding with the launch, EOV is collaborating with United War Veterans Council (UWVC) to celebrate veterans at America's Parade on November 11th in New York City. EOV has assigned two teams to engage with parade participants and spectators to uncover their stories as to why they are celebrating Veteran's Day. These stories will be published on both EOV and UWVC's social media outlets throughout the day, using the hashtags: #AmericasParade #EmpowerOurVets
"The UWVC is pleased to be working with EOV to highlight the stories of our veterans. Said incoming UWVC President Dan Sweeney. "EOV is a wonderful complement to our own efforts to raise awareness of those who serve." America's Parade is the largest celebration of service in the United States, and features 20,000 participants and nearly 300 groups marching through the heart of New York City.
All videos and content will be posted on the EOV website and through EOV's Facebook (www.facebook.com/empowerourvets), Twitter (@EOVstories) and Instagram (@EOVstories).
