Makor Group Announces the Opening of a Chicago Branch Office, Adding Eric Laumann as Head of North American Risk Arbitrage Research

Makor Securities Ltd. is pleased to announce that Oscar Gruss and Son Incorporated, its affiliate, has expanded its Special Situations team with the addition of Eric Laumann as Head of North American Risk Arbitrage Research. In connection with Eric's hiring, Oscar Gruss also announces the opening of a Chicago branch office at 22 W. Washington Street, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60602. This hiring is evidence of Makor's commitment to further growing its expanding US Special Situations business. Eric will provide expert regulatory and event arbitrage related analysis to institutional investors.

Eric has more than 15 years of professional experience in event arbitrage related services and before that more than 10 years of professional experience in complex multi-billion-dollar civil litigation, including antitrust, class actions, commercial, corporate fiduciary duty, distressed debt, patent, products liability, and securities matters.
Prior to joining Oscar Gruss, Eric was Head of Risk Arbitrage at KCG, a risk arbitrage co- portfolio manager at Millennium Partners, Head of the North American Risk Arbitrage Desk at Credit Suisse, a senior member of Bear Stearns's buy-side/sell-side risk arbitrage desk, and a senior analyst on Deephaven Capital Management's event arbitrage team.
As a litigator, Eric worked at Weil, Gotshal, & Manges in Silicon Valley, Jenner & Block in Chicago, and Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman and Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. Prior to that, he clerked for Judge Jan E. DuBois of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
