DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Tired of hearing, "Did you take your pill, honey?" from your man? Get him to invest in birth control for guys. Just in time for Valentine's Day, Male Contraception Initiative (MCI) announces the availability of a half a million dollars designated for compelling research to advance male contraceptive options.
Guys have had to rely on condoms (complaining about reduced stimulation) or vasectomy (which can be difficult to reverse) if they wanted to take charge of their own family planning. That is, UNTIL NOW. Today, a guy who wants to give his sweetie the gift of unfettered loving for a future Valentine's Day can invest in research for a new male form of birth control.
Following the generous support of an anonymous tech industry donor, MCI is providing innovation research funding to fill a crucial hole in the development process for new male contraceptive options. MCI's executive director Aaron Hamlin explained the significance of this funding announcement, "This is long overdue. Now men can join in by giving the gift of their own family planning empowerment to their spouses, wives, and girlfriends." Who knows? Success here could mean that future years hold a more pleasure-enhanced, worry-free Valentine's Day.
If you want to donate in honor of your valentine, MCI will accept tax-free donations through its website.
Life science researchers are invited to send a letter of interest to apply for a grant to develop a new, reversible male contraceptive. We are especially interested in proposals that focus on late stages of sperm maturation, sperm function, and sperm transport. All letters of interest will be due to MCI on March 1.
Male Contraception Initiative is a 501(c)3 organization that works with researchers around the globe to make new male contraceptive options a reality.
