TREMONTON, Utah, Sept. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- It's time for Malt-O-Meal's annual "Cereal Day for United Way!" On Oct. 1, for one day only, the Tremonton plant will sell bags of its family favorite varieties for just $1.

Held from 8 a.m. until the cereal runs out at 102 S. Tremont Street, just south of Tremonton City Offices, all proceeds from the sale will benefit United Way of Northern Utah. Malt-O-Meal's goal is to sell 15,000 bags of cereal, for a maximum donation of $15,000.

"The dedicated work of the United Way of Northern Utah and all its volunteers is so important in this community," says Mark Suchan, Malt-O-Meal's Tremonton plant manager. "We look forward to greeting our neighbors at our cereal sale on Saturday. Their community spirit and generosity is demonstrated in their continued support of this sale."

This year marks the fourth annual Malt-O-Meal cereal sale in Tremonton. Following the success of the program in Minneapolis, which just hosted its ninth sale and raised approximately $50,000 for Greater Twin Cities United Way, Malt-O-Meal has partnered with United Way branches in other areas to host similar sales. In June, the company held a cereal sale in St. Ansgar, IA, which raised more than $8,000 for the United Way of North Central Iowa, and on September 24, the company's Asheboro, NC plant hosted its own sale and employee event, which raised approximately $10,000 for the United Way of Randolph County. The company expects to generate more than $92,000 in combined cereal sale and employee donations to United Way affiliates across the country.
