WASHINGTON and NEW YORK and LONDON, March 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The announcement of the Kraft and Heinz merger yesterday also brings along the announcement of the 5th largest food and beverage company in the world.
This merger, valued at around $36 billion, will allow both companies to grow even faster than they are now. Together, they will be able to face evolving consumer preferences and trends.
The merger will allow both companies to bring their innovations together for more creative product ideas. Both companies still have an old school way of thinking, being over a century old, and to keep up with millennial shoppers, they will need to think outside the box.
Shoppers have been moving away from buying pantry items to purchase less processed foods. Together, this new emerged company will need to find new ways to attract the natural foods consumer.
The new company is expected to have revenues of about $28 billion, with a long list of brands, including: Heinz, Kraft, Oscar Mayer, Ore-Ida, and Philadelphia.
Because both Kraft and Heinz are household favorites, with Kraft products estimated at being in 98% of American households, and Heinz ketchup being number one in its market, this merger is expected to be positive for both companies. It is expected that cost savings will reach $1.5 billion by the end of 2017.
The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2015.
