SEATTLE, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DripCatch, Inc. announced today that Dan Reid, F&B Director at Seattle Marriott Waterfront, is the recipient of Marriott International's first ever Management Proactive Safety Award. Reid received the award for implementing DripCatch in the hotel's food and beverage operations to reduce the potential for slip-and-fall accidents.
According to Reid, "DripCatch is not only helpful in reducing the amount of water that hits our floors but it's a convenience and time-saving device for our banquet preparations. We intend on implementing the use of DripCatch throughout the hotel." The award was presented to Reid by Jim Kelly, Marriott International's Area Director, Global Safety & Security. Marriott International is a global leader in the lodging industry with more than 3,800 properties in 74 countries and territories worldwide.
Seattle Marriott Waterfront (www.marriott.com/seawf) was one of the early participants in the pilot programs designed to introduce DripCatch's simple and affordable means of preventing leaks and spills from traditional glass racks and dollies. To date, DripCatch pilot program participants include select Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, Crowne Plaza, Embassy Suites, Holiday Inns and Fairmont hotels. Participating restaurants include select Red Robin, Applebee's, T.G.I. Friday's and Seattle favorites, Dahlia Lounge, Daniel's Broiler, Rover's, Brave Horse Tavern and several others.
When business student Alexandra Abraham slipped on a wet hotel kitchen floor while catering an event, she resolved to fix the problem for commercial kitchens everywhere. Taking a leave from Seattle University's Albers School of Business, Alexandra designed, patented and prototyped a product that would prevent excess water from leaking or spilling from glass racks. Now in production at Cashmere Molding, a green manufacturing plant in Woodinville, WA, DripCatch™ is being hailed as an effective and affordable way to dramatically reduce the number of slip-and-fall incidents. DripCatch units are fully compatible with nearly all glass racks and dollies used in the food & beverage industry. Alexandra was selected by Forbes as one of nine "All Star Student Entrepreneurs for 2012."
