Pennsylvania homeowners encouraged to commit to low oil costs before price hike
SKIPPACK, Pa., Feb. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The dip in oil prices has brought about many benefits to drivers and homeowners. According to Marshall Home Comfort, a family-owned and operated home services business serving Montgomery County and the surrounding area for more than 70 years, Pennsylvania homeowners are now locking in their heating oil contract at these low oil prices for the entire year, especially amid speculation of a price hike in the foreseeable future.

"On average, a household uses 650 gallons to heat their homes and water. While the typical oil price for the winter season has been between $2.75 and $3.60, we are now experiencing prices as low as $1.79 a gallon," said Glenn Dickey, Jr., owner of Marshall Home Comfort. "Nobody can predict the market. It's a gamble. What I can say is that oil is more likely to go up rather than fall any lower."
According to the New York Times, oil prices by the barrel have been cut at least 60 percent since the summer of 2014, bringing about economic ordeals for oil-producing states such as Alaska, North Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Yet for drivers nationwide and homeowners in areas where heating oil is the preference, the price drop is encouraging more oil consumption and increased savings. Motorists are experiencing all-time lows in gas prices. Montgomery County home heating still operates via heating oil, producing a striking difference in utilities bills for homeowners.
"With the recent blizzard that hit the East Coast, low oil prices couldn't have come at a better time for Montgomery County homeowners," said Dickey. "We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and we're delivering heating oil, even in the snow. And these savings are making the job that much easier to make homeowners happy."
While the question of why the prices of oil has been dropping so rapidly remains a complicated one, drivers and homeowners using heating oil can continue to reap the savings until domestic oil production takes a turn.
