Martin Cooperman Named Managing Partner of Geller & Company
Long-Time Grant Thornton Executive Responsible For Delivery of High-Quality Professional Services For Clients and Growth of Businesses
NEW YORK, Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Geller & Company, LLC, a leading strategic financial advisory firm, today announced that Martin E. Cooperman has been named Managing Partner. Mr. Cooperman, a long-time senior executive at Grant Thornton LLP, will be responsible for Geller's continued leadership in providing high-quality professional services for its clients and the growth of the company's businesses. He will work closely with Martin Geller, founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Cooperman was associated for 35 years with Grant Thornton, a global accounting, tax and advisory services firm. Most recently he served as Northeast Region Managing Partner and as a member of the firm's Senior Leadership Team. He has also served the firm as a member of the Partnership Board, Risk Management Committee, Knowledge Management Steering Committee, Best Practices Task Force and Chair of its Client Experience Council. Prior to his senior leadership positions Mr. Cooperman served as a client service partner for many of the firm's family owned, entrepreneurial driven clients in a variety of industries.

Prior to his most recent role at Grant Thornton, Mr. Cooperman served as the New York office Managing Partner, the firm's largest office, and was responsible for strategy development/execution, growth and profitability, new business development, client loyalty/retention, human resource initiatives and innovation. Mr. Cooperman was also responsible for a sizable expansion of specialty service lines including Advisory Services, SALT, International Tax, Litigation Support, and Valuation and Transaction Advisory Services.
A member of AICPA, CSSCPA and NYSSCPA, Mr. Cooperman has served on the latter's Large Firm/Medium Size Firm Practice Management Committee. Active in his community, Mr. Cooperman was the recipient of the UJA's Community Service Award and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
Mr. Cooperman holds a B.A. from New York University College of Arts and Science and earned his M.B.A. from NYU's Stern School of Business. He lives in Weston, CT.
