CANTON, Mass., July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Massachusetts Nurses Association, the state's largest union and professional association for registered nurses and health care professionals, announces its endorsement of Abington Selectman Alex Bezanson for State Representative in the 7th Plymouth District.
"Alex has stood with frontline nurses and he will stand up for safe patient care and a safer work environment for those nurses on Beacon Hill," said MNA President Donna Kelly Williams, a registered nurse at Cambridge Hospital.
Bezanson has pledged his support for a ballot question the MNA is putting forward this November to set a safe limit on the number of patients a nurse can care for at one time in acute care hospitals. Last July, he joined the nurses at Tufts Medical Center during their strike and subsequent lock-out by the hospital.
"I was proud to walk the picket line with the nurses at Tufts Medical Center last year, I am proud to stand with the MNA on Safe Patient Limits this year, and I will always be proud to fight for our nurses on Beacon Hill when I am elected State Representative. I am thrilled to have the endorsement of the MNA."
Bezanson has served on the Abington Select Board since 2015 and previously served over twenty years on the Abington Conservation Commission. The 7th Plymouth legislative district consists of Abington, Whitman, and part of East Bridgewater.
