MassMutual Invites Guest Speaker from Social Security Administration to Address Retirement Plan Participants
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its web-based RetireSmart(SM) Academy participant seminar series, MassMutual's Retirement Services Division has enlisted Daniel Moraski, public affairs specialist from the Social Security Administration, to present an educational seminar for retirement plan participants on the MassMutual platform. The seminar, scheduled for Tuesday, July 20 at noon Eastern time and entitled "Understanding How Social Security and Medicare Impact Your Retirement," will cover how Social Security benefits are calculated, Social Security benefit projections, an overview of Medicare eligibility and coverage, and other important topics.
This is the second web-based seminar in an educational series MassMutual is hosting for participants and plan sponsors. The first session, entitled "Put Your Retirement Plan in Motion," drew participants from more than 93 clients across 27 states.
MassMutual's RetireSmart Academy participant seminar series is designed to help participants achieve a better understanding of their retirement goals and deliver specific action steps to help them plan and save accordingly. "We want to cover all three elements of the 'three-legged stool' of the American worker's retirement savings plan – personal savings, Social Security and, of course, employer-sponsored retirement plans," says E. Heather Smiley, vice president and chief marketing officer for MassMutual's Retirement Services Division. "Social Security and Medicare are very important topics and we want to make sure that our participants have the best understanding possible of how these elements fit into their own personal retirement savings plan," she adds.
The seminars are comprised of a 30-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute Q & A. "Put Your Retirement Plan in Motion" was hosted by several members of MassMutual's Retirement Services executive team including Smiley as well as Elaine Sarsynski, executive vice president of MassMutual's Retirement Services Division, and Eric Wietsma, senior vice president and head of investments and product development for the division.
