MAX4G Strengthens Business Case for Small Cell Networks with Release of Non-Line-of-Sight Backhaul Solution Supporting Carrier Aggregation of Licensed and Unlicensed Bands
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., June 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MAX4G, a leader in small cell backhaul technology, today announced the launch of its new Point-to-Point, Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) backhaul product, the M4-U2 wireless bridge. The M4-U2 utilizes Qualcomm's DAN3200 multicore SoC, and can be configured with one or two radio modules for aggregating both licensed and unlicensed channels. With two radio modules, the M4-U2 is capable of transmitting and receiving data at rates up to 900 Mbps, with extremely low sub 1 ms latency.

"The significant thing with the M4-U2 is that it gives carriers a new level of flexibility", said Vladimir Kelman, CEO and Founder of MAX4G Inc. "With carrier aggregation, operators have the choice of using licensed or unlicensed spectrum, or combining the two into one, large data pipe. This gives operators new options for meeting capacity requirements, and the ability to rapidly deploy outdoor metro cells in places where fiber backhaul is not economical."
In addition to industry leading throughput and latency performance, the M4-U2 supports 10, 20, and 40 MHz channel bandwidth options, Synchronous Ethernet, and IEEE 1588v2. The compact, all-outdoor, backhaul unit includes an integrated, dual-band antenna, and is designed to enable non-technical installers to commission a link in less than 15 minutes. Field trials with global tier one carriers are scheduled this summer. General availability is planned for Q3 of this year.
