Maxfield & Oberton To Donate $38,000 for Superstorm Sandy Relief
Thanks to Sales of Buckyballs® and Buckycubes®
NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxfield & Oberton announced today that the company will donate $38,000 to the Red Cross to benefit victims of Superstorm Sandy.
M&O is the manufacturer of Buckyballs®, the number one selling brand name in adult high-powered magnets. In the days following Sandy, the company announced that it would be discontinuing Buckyballs® and Buckycubes® and donating twenty percent of all profits from sales during the week to the Red Cross.
"Sandy served as a reminder that we are all members of the same community," said Craig Zucker, CEO and Founder of NYC based Maxfield & Oberton. "At a time when many of our neighbors are still without electricity and other basic necessities, and some have lost everything, we are grateful for the support of our loyal customers who made this possible."
The announcement comes on the heels of the company's decision to discontinue its two most popular products in the wake of a drawn out fight with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. While several thousand sets of Buckyballs and Buckycubes remain, Maxfield and Oberton has announced it will not produce more of the two products once they're sold out.
