Mayorga Customers Make Nicaragua School Safe for Children
ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mayorga is proud to announce that its customers have helped to make a pre-school in Ocotal Nicaragua more safe for children. During one of their trips to origin countries, Mayorga staff and customers toured a school in Ocotal, Nicaragua that is part of the Fabretto Children's Foundation's network of schools. During the tour, Mayorga staff noticed that a roof in a classroom was dangerously buckling just overhead of the area where children sit. Immediately, Mayorga and Fabretto worked to get an estimate to repair the perilous situation. Mayorga turned to their loyal fans online for support.
Martin Mayorga, founder of Mayorga Coffee, states, "our customers know how committed we are to supporting Fabretto and other education-based causes in Latin America and locally in the U.S. They also ask how they can help directly. This was a perfect scenario to define a problem, quantify the need, and inform our customers to act. Within 72 hours, we raised the necessary $2,000 to fix the roof and it is now in the process of being repaired." Mayorga continues, "being in the coffee industry is my opportunity to support the countries where I spent my childhood while proudly offering their products to US consumers at a fair price."
Mayorga will post updated pictures of the repair process and results through its blog at http://www.mayorgacoffee.com.
