Mayors To Gather In Philadelphia To Discuss Innovation As A Tool To Create More Efficient Cities, Increase Public Engagement The U.S. Conference of Mayors, The City of Philadelphia, Temple University to Host Mayors' Innovation Summit

WASHINGTON, May 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, in conjunction with the City of Philadelphia and Temple University's Fox School of Business will host the 7th Mayors' Innovation Summit Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24 in Philadelphia, PA to explore how civic innovation can be used to increase citizen engagement, allow for more open government, improve service delivery, and create a better quality of life in cities.

Mayors from around the country will gather to share ideas and hear from top industry experts from Google, IBM and Code for America, as well as staff from several major cities to identify innovative solutions to local challenges.  The meeting agenda can be found at www.usmayors.org.  Topics will include:  The Economy of Investing in Broadband, Breaking Through Barriers to Spur Innovation, and Opening the Government: Creating Democracies for the Public Good.
