McCabe Ambulance has also successfully implemented a program where EMTs can activate a "Code Stroke" from the field, which allows them to immediately refer stroke patients for a CAT Scan, providing more prompt diagnosis and speedier treatment.
"Decreasing the time it takes to definitively diagnose a stroke should start with the EMS crews making contact with the patient early on. Their role in this process cannot be overstated," said Dr. Young Yoon, Medical Director at McCabe Ambulance.
Founded 43 years ago by H. Mickey McCabe in his home in Bayonne, the family-operated company now has 50 vehicles and 140 employees, of which 75 are Bayonne residents.
