McDermott+Consulting Expands Policy and Advocacy Team

WASHINGTON, Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- McDermott+Consulting (McDermottPlus) is pleased to announce the arrival of Rodney Whitlock and his policy team, Katie Weider and Emma Zimmerman.

Whitlock most recently served as the vice president of health policy at a law and government relations firm.  Prior to that role, he spent over two decades working in Congress, serving former US Representative Charlie Norwood (R-GA) and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Whitlock first served as the health policy director for Representative Norwood, where he managed the Patients' Bill of Rights.  He then went on to serve on the Finance Committee staff as a health policy advisor to Chairman Grassley, and later joined Senator Grassley's personal office as the health policy director.  During his time working in the Senate, Whitlock served as the lead Republican staffer for Medicaid legislation from 2005 to 2010 and continued to serve Senator Grassley working on all health related issues through 2015.

Weider most recently served as a health policy director at the same law and government relations firm. Prior to that role, she was a senior analyst at the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) where she developed policy recommendations and conducted legislative analyses related to Medicare and Medicaid issues in support of Congress and the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Weider also has Capitol Hill experience, having worked in Senator Grassley's office as a health policy fellow where she conducted research and analyses on health policy options.

Founded five years ago, McDermottPlus has expanded by adding notable former political and career executive branch officials, congressional staff and consultants.  The McDermottPlus team is now comprised of 13 consultants with broad and diverse health-specific policy, lobbying and analytics experience.
