Law Firm to Participate in 2012 'Step Out Chicago' Walk

CHICAGO, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- McGuireWoods LLP announced today that it is a proud sponsor of the American Diabetes Association's (ADA) 2013 Chicagoland Tour de Cure cycling event. As part of the firm's effort to help fight diabetes, it will also participate in the association's Step Out Chicago walk, to be held on Saturday, October 20, at Soldier Field.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. with festivities ending at noon. The 3.2-mile walk will line the Chicago lakefront shore. Volunteers and walkers are needed.

The ADA reports that one in three children born in the year 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime if current trends continue. The ratio is even greater for minority children with one in two developing diabetes in their lifetime.

The ADA is a nonprofit charity fighting against diabetes, a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, a hormone that is needed to convert food into energy. Step Out Chicago is part of a series of ADA charity walks that aim to raise awareness and donations to stop diabetes. Chicagoland Tour de Cure is part of a series of fundraising cycling events held in 44 states nationwide to benefit the ADA.
