Chicago Nonprofit Organization Hosts Fundraiser to Help Support Chicago's Homeless
CHICAGO, Sept. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- McGuireWoods LLP announced today that it is a proud sponsor of the North Side Housing and Supportive Services' (NSHSS) 29th Annual Dinner, a community event to be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, to raise funds for the support of individuals who are homeless in the Chicagoland area.
The event, which will include a silent auction and an awards ceremony, will be hosted by Valerie Warner, co-host of ABC Channel 7's Windy City Live, and Illinois Rep. Sara Feigenholtz will participate as the keynote speaker.
According to a recent study by the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, 105,338 Chicagoans experienced homelessness between 2011 and 2012. Significant economic changes, such as the downturn of the economy and a higher unemployment rate than the state average, have led to an increase in homelessness in recent years.
"With homelessness on the rise, we support the NSHSS' great efforts to serve the many individuals in our city who struggle with homelessness," said Karla Baumler, an associate attorney in McGuireWoods' Chicago office. "We look forward to joining our community at this important event."
NSHSS Executive Director Dr. Geri Palmer added, "The value of a person at NSHSS is not measured by his or her situation, but by the very fact that they are human beings, and they need our community's ongoing support. Food, monetary and clothing donations are strongly needed and appreciated."
The dinner will be held from 6 to 9 p.m.at Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant located at 516 N. Clark St. Tickets may be purchased for $125 and include admission for one, dinner (choice of pasta, chicken or fish dishes) and auction bidding privileges. Tickets may be purchased and donations may be made at www.northsidehousing.org. Please contact Jessica Butler at (773) 360-8046 or email@example.com with any questions.
