MD Anderson and Blue Lizard® unite to educate golf community, raise funds for cancer research
Merchandise program supports research at nation's top cancer hospital
HOUSTON, Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Lizard® Australian Sunscreen has launched a program with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center to raise funds to help combat cancer. For each 3-ounce tube of Blue Lizard® sunscreen purchased at participating TPC® golf courses across the country, $3 will go toward cancer research at MD Anderson.
When the institution became the official cancer center of the PGA TOUR in spring 2015, it provided complimentary Blue Lizard® sunscreen at select tournaments to professional golfers and the public. After wide adoption by the public, the two organizations discussed a fundraising campaign. Funds raised will go toward MD Anderson's Melanoma Moon Shot – a component of the Moon Shots Program, an accelerated effort to drastically reduce cancer deaths and transform cancer care. The moon shot addresses the deadliest form of skin cancer, melanoma, with a team of researchers and clinicians focused on preventing and treating it more effectively and detecting it in its earliest stages.
