M.D.C. Holdings Mourns the Loss of Long-Time Board Member William B. Kemper

DENVER, Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With deep sadness, M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: MDC) announced the passing of its long-time board member, William B. Kemper , on Monday, December 5^th, 2011. Mr. Kemper served on the Company's Board of Directors since its founding in 1972 until his recent resignation for health reasons. He was 75 years old.

"During nearly four decades of devoted service as a member of our Board, Mr. Kemper left an everlasting mark on our Company in various capacities, including Chairman of the Audit Committee, Chairman of the Compensation Committee and member of the Corporate Governance/Nominating Committee.
