Medbox, Inc. Announced Increased Funding for Corporate Giving Program in 2013
Company plans on increasing donations and expanding list of recipients
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Medbox, Inc. (OTC Markets: MDBX) (www.medboxinc.com), announced today that they will increase their donations in 2013, by giving more to certain groups that they already support, and by funding new organizations for the first time.
Medbox supports the development of comprehensive and sensible regulations in states that have legalized medical marijuana, and advocates policies that ensure fair access for patients and practical guidelines for providers.
Among the organizations that Medbox supports is ASA – Americans for Safe Access. The ASA is the largest national member-based organization of patients, medical professionals, scientists and concerned citizens promoting safe and legal access to cannabis for therapeutic use and research. ASA works to overcome political and legal barriers by creating policies that improve access to medical cannabis for patients and researchers by engaging in a multifaceted strategy that incorporates public education, impact litigation, grassroots development and advocacy, media campaigns, and direct support services.
Medbox has asked ASA to provide a list of worthwhile organizations that they feel would be best suited to receive donations from Medbox. This list shall include certain sub-chapters of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) that were instrumental in defending patient rights and the state approved dispensary program in Arizona. Also included will be the International Association for Cannabinoid Medicine. The company will continue to support lobbying efforts in states where medical marijuana is pending or under consideration, in order to help craft sensible regulations that favor the type of strict compliance and transparency that the Medbox system provides.
"It's important for Medbox to continue to support groups that positively impact one aspect of our business model, which is controlling the method in which dispensaries store and dispense marijuana," stated Dr. Bruce Bedrick, CEO of Medbox, Inc. "While we continue to inform the public that our system is not a vending machine, but actually a drug dispensing system and compliance tool that sits behind the counter in licensed dispensaries and is at the control of dispensary employees, it's important that we back the organizations that also support and craft sensible regulations."
