HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Medicine Dispensing Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Medbox, Inc., (Pinksheets: MDBX) (www.medboxinc.com) announced today that it was successful in obtaining licensing on behalf of its consulting clients in 20 of the 98 zones allotted in the Arizona dispensary lottery, which took place yesterday. The company completed the lengthy and complicated applications on behalf of groups and individuals that were seeking to open dispensaries in Arizona's tightly regulated market. Hundreds of applicants competed for a relatively small number of licenses, and Medicine Dispensing Systems' clients obtained over 20% of the States total allotment.
Medicine Dispensing Systems has become nationally recognized as a leader in obtaining positive outcomes in the application process due to their comprehensive suite of services, which includes in-depth consultations, securing special zoning permits, handling lease negotiations, and specifying specialized clinic equipment.
Each client that received a dispensary license in Arizona - as well as in other states that allow medical marijuana - require the licensee to utilize the patented Medbox™ System, which is the most secure and transparent method to assure patient verification and compliance with all state and local regulations. The system, which can include a dispensing machine and/or a POS device, is currently in use by over 100 clinics nationwide, and provides assurance to state regulators that clinics are being operated legitimately, legally, and in accordance with all rules and regulations. These safety protocols, which are built into each Medbox system, played a key role in helping the company's clients obtain licenses in Arizona. As a vital tool in ensuring legitimacy, it is anticipated that the Medbox system will play a key role in other newly emerging medical marijuana states as well.
"Our company is focused on states that have polished regulations concerning medical marijuana. States like Arizona and Connecticut are setting a proper example for how other states should proceed in crafting their medical marijuana guidelines. They have learned a lesson from less organized states like California and Colorado," stated Dr. Bruce Bedrick, CEO of Medbox, Inc. "We believe that the number of medical marijuana clinics should be based on population density and awarded by the state in a tightly regulated system," he continued. "Policies need to be crafted at the onset in order for these clinics to operate fairly without causing any nuisance to their local communities."
