Media Advisory (Climate Event in Paris) - "Salon: Reality Check! Climate Action and the Beneficiary Voice"
December 8, 2015 - Media Invited to Engage with Youth Activists and NGOs from Five Continents
PARIS, Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- /Action Connected/- As world leaders convene at the UN-COP21 they are seeking solutions to enhance economic development and improve human wellbeing, all while taking measurable steps to prevent climate catastrophe. The results of high-level negotiations underway in Paris are most important for young people so that climate change does not become a barrier that prevents future generations from reaching their full potential. In front line communities around the world – across developed and developing nations, North and South – youth and civil society are responding to the effects of climate change, including environmental degradation and habitat loss. These are their stories.
Action Connected and our partners invite media to participate in a special climate action event in Paris featuring voices from a global community of youth activists whose generation has the most to gain (or lose) from the anticipated results of the UN-COP21, including a global climate change agreement to take effect in 2020.
This Salon event will discuss work in front line communities who must adapt to and moderate the effects of climate change in order to survive. Topics will include the role of young people in building sustainable development solutions; youth perspectives on climate change and social justice; and local strategies for mitigating degradation wrought by climate change.
