MEDIA INVITATION: Forum Speech on Whistleblowers and Federal Laws
PftPI Alliance to Hear Address by OSHA Official
WASHINGTON, May 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Recent mining and refinery workplace accidents make for a timely address on whistleblower provisions to protect employees who report workplace safety violations, and those who cite violations in different industries and sectors, under laws affecting nuclear power, securities, trucking, public transportation, the environment, and consumer product safety.
OSHA's Dr. David Michaels, assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health, will discuss these issues at a public forum on May 11 at 12:30 p.m. In his address, "Whistleblowers and OSHA: Strengthening Professional Integrity," Michaels will cite his agency's role in enforcing whistleblower provisions in 17 federal statutes.
The forum will begin with light food and refreshments at 11:45 a.m., followed by Michaels' presentation and discussion. He will address several questions, including: How is the Whistleblower Protection Program working now, and how do its challenges relate to its responsibilities across so many statutes and industries?
