BOZEMAN, Mont., March 4, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On February 25, 2016, the Montana Supreme Court ruled 6-1 in favor of effectively killing Montana's medical cannabis program. The basic tenets of the ruling are thus; the state is making providers choose only 3 patients each, holding doctors to recommending only 25 patients each, banning all provider advertising and allowing search and seizure without a warrant for all medical cardholders and providers.

Montana Families United is a state based organization aimed at stopping the enforcement of the recent Montana Supreme Court decision on medical cannabis. In 2004, legislature passed the Medical Marijuana Program with a 62% in favor vote. Since then, we have seen full legalization passed in Colorado, Washington, Alaska, Oregon and the District of Columbia. This is a crippling blow to the entire cannabis industry. This particular Supreme Court ruling is the farthest a case has gone in the court system, and a major step backwards for Montana will have ripple effects across the entire national landscape.
