Medical Emergency Professionals, LLC Acquires New Emergency Department Services Contract

GERMANTOWN, Md., Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Emergency Professionals, LLC (MEP) continues its growth with the acquisition of an additional emergency services contract to its roster of MEP facilities. MEP has signed an agreement with Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, MD, to assume leadership for the provision of emergency medical services effective January 1, 2011.

MEP is a physician owned and managed emergency medicine organization. Founded in 1998, MEP has maintained its excellence in emergency medicine while growing in the region. Southern Maryland is the fifth hospital system to engage MEP, the third in as many years. Other MEP contracts include Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, MD; Germantown Emergency Care Center, Germantown, MD; Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, MD; St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD; and Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland, MD.

MEP attracts and hires only the most skilled emergency medicine trained and board certified physicians. "MEP's reputation for excellence in medicine and providing a dynamic environment for its employees has travelled; now physicians seek out MEP instead of the reverse. It is very rewarding. Our providers are our secret ingredient for success," states Michael Cetta, MD, an MEP owner and slated to be Medical Director at Southern Maryland Hospital.

Southern Maryland Hospital Center, a community hospital in Prince George's County, treats over 60k patients annually in its emergency department. SMHC was established in 1977 and has been integral to the health and well-being of the county for over 40 years. The hospital offers many state-of-the-art medical services including cardiac catheterization and angioplasty, is a certified stroke center and is a partner with Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base.

"MEP is excited to engage with the Southern Maryland Hospital Center to improve the health and promote the well-being of the community we are here to serve," says Dr. Cetta. "MEP is gratified and excited to have partnered with Southern Maryland Hospital Center. With MEP's attention to process, quality and throughput we hope to further improve the Emergency Services available to the citizens of the region."
